From the moment I arrived at the church, I started enjoying documenting Jen & Brian's special day: their wedding color was Royals blue to show their KC pride. I loved all of the beautiful details at the St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church in Overland Park, KS, where the two were married. Finding spots to photograph the bridal details was a real treat! Also another photo opportunity: the couple's newborn in the cutest oversized tux (the smallest tux they could find!) being passed from loving arms to loving arms all day while their parents enjoyed the wedding day. After the ceremony, I enjoyed a ride with the wedding party in the party bus over to the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop in Olathe, KS where we did all of their bridal party portraits and also where the reception was held. Mahaffie offers so many beautiful backdrops in such close proximity to a beautiful reception space! I hope to do more weddings there in the future! We ended the night with some dusk portraits in the grove of trees below the reception space. Much love to these two and their son! <3

Around the office we've been calling this "our Abe and Jake's Landingweekend" -- the Best of Lawrence awards ceremony was there on Thursday, Jim & Jillian's wedding was there on Friday, and Sunday we had the pleasure of documenting Cara & Mike's wedding at this historic building on the Kaw. Enjoy sneak peek photos from Cara & Mike's special day which began at the Japanese Friendship Garden on Mass Street.

Like many photographers, I got my start in wedding photography shooting photos for friends of mine. These days, it's rare for me to have the privilege of photographing weddings for very old friends of mine. Matthew and Vanessa and I have known each other for 10+ years. We continue to see each other regularly as they only live a block away from Max and I. Over the years we've been to radical queer dance parties and protests and the two were subjects in my queers in public bathrooms photo series (2008-ish). Last year I did extended family portraits with Matthew's family, so it was great seeing everyone again as well as tons of old friends in town for the special moment. The two were married on their 10th anniversary at the Carnegie Building in Downtown Lawrence. <3
I picked them up at their home, The George and Annie Bell House (which is a stone house on the list of historic building that survived Quantrill's raid!), where we snapped a few quick pics before driving around downtown to take photos in various photo spots we encountered. After that we headed back to the Carnegie for family photos, the ceremony, and the reception, which they asked me to just enjoy as a guest. So the photobooth took over and what a fun time! Old friends of mine were in the booth again -- 15 years ago they were my same friends at house parties getting into my homemade photobooth, which is how I eventually came to launch Oh Snap! :)
I also wanted to give a shout out to trans couples-- this is my first (known) trans wedding, something that I hope I will get more opportunities to document. Much love to these two! Enjoy the sneak peeks and photobooth pics! #lovewins

Jim & Jillian and their crew were SO MUCH FUN to work with! Despite it being 99 degrees, they were down to keep to our original plan and take photos in the streets of downtown Lawrence before heading to Abe and Jake's Landing for their wedding on Friday. After the ceremony I disappeared with the couple to get them some alone time right after the ceremony and snap some great photos of just the two of them--this is something I wish all of my clients would do! Much love to these two and their family and friends! Enjoy the Sneak Peeks and photobooth pics!

I don't get to Topeka as much as I want to. I love shooting there with so many different types of backdrops as options for your shoot. I had an amazing time shooting Andrea & Scott's engagement portraits in Topeka, KS last week. We had a blast playing at the Old Prairie Town at Ward Mansion & botanical gardens site and then heading to Lake Shawnee adjacent from the neighborhood Andrea grew up in to finish out our session on a lake with so many memories already embedded in it. Seriously super excited for their wedding next year!
