I lucked out landing Travis and Deon's wedding in Kansas City. I first met with the couple over coffees in Westport and it was then that Deon explained his artistic vision for their wedding photos. They chose a 1920's Art Deco theme with their ceremony in one of Kansas City's oldest churches and the reception at the gorgeous VOX Theatre. Their guests dressed the part with hats and pearls and fedoras and flapper dresses. And their party was just perfect--everyone danced--their first dance was a super memorable full on choreographed dance routine. They looked so classy all day, even when down to their vests and fedoras at the reception! I channeled Rog Walker, who photographed Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson's wedding, to give Deon & Travis just the look they wanted for their wedding photography. I have to admit it was SUPER FUN being given a specific inspiration point to riff on. This was truly a collaboration between me and my clients! Much love to Travis and Deon as they continue their lives together in Kansas City. I hope so much to photograph future parts of their lives together--they were one of those couples you just want to work with again. <3
