Taking photos for Katie & JP on their wedding day was an absolute pleasure. I spent the morning with Katie at The Eldridge Extended documenting all of her lovely details and spending some time with her, her mother, and a few friends as she got ready. Her ring is as unique as she is, absolutely stunning and original with an heirloom diamond reappropriated on a vintage silver and turquoise ring, a staple in Katie's regular wardrobe. This bride and groom opted for a beautiful outdoor backyard ceremony on the land of close friends, Kendra & Aaron Marable, who were also helping with catering. Their cake was made by the lovely Layla of Sweet Cakes; they went with a naked cake approach which was wonderful to photograph. Dinner mainstays were made by other locals, Taco Zone, making their entire day a celebration of local Lawrence downtown scenester vendors, myself included, as well as a videographer. Katie & JP opted to go without a wedding party, instead we got great photos of them with different groups of important friends from Katie's college buddies to her fellow employees at The Love Garden record store, to JP's huge skateboarding crew. His shot was a lot of fun as we opted for a giant photo of all the boys shotgunning cans of beer. The dance party was absolutely awesome--DJ Candlepants played the perfect tunes to keep everyone dancing and having fun.  What a perfect night.  I enjoyed especially, finding the red storage box to provide a pop of color in contrast with the green that served as my backdrop on this wonderful Spring day. Except for the bridal preparation, all photos were taken in and around the Marable property. Much love to these two as they continue to make a life for themselves here in Lawrence. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and the perfect example of the kind of weddings I hope to shoot more of. Much love! <3
