I lucked out landing Travis and Deon's wedding in Kansas City. I first met with the couple over coffees in Westport and it was then that Deon explained his artistic vision for their wedding photos. They chose a 1920's Art Deco theme with their ceremony in one of Kansas City's oldest churches and the reception at the gorgeous VOX Theatre. Their guests dressed the part with hats and pearls and fedoras and flapper dresses. And their party was just perfect--everyone danced--their first dance was a super memorable full on choreographed dance routine. They looked so classy all day, even when down to their vests and fedoras at the reception! I channeled Rog Walker, who photographed Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson's wedding, to give Deon & Travis just the look they wanted for their wedding photography. I have to admit it was SUPER FUN being given a specific inspiration point to riff on. This was truly a collaboration between me and my clients! Much love to Travis and Deon as they continue their lives together in Kansas City. I hope so much to photograph future parts of their lives together--they were one of those couples you just want to work with again. <3

Kaitlin and Justin's Kansas City brunch wedding was one of the best weddings all year! They chose the 2000 Event Space above The Cashew restaurant in downtown Kansas City, who delivered on being the best brunch wedding I could ever imagine. They had a grilled cheese bar, an omelette bar, and a full line of delicious brunch foods for their guests to share. Weddings with bacon are now my new favorite thing. Kaitlin and Justin were such fun to work with. Kaitlin's satin wedding dress with fur stole was absolutely fabulous. She was such a great bride to work with, she made sure that me and my assistant had time to eat and and I enjoyed so much being sat with her college friends for lunch. Kansas City offered our backdrop for all our portraits and we used locations that were within a 2 block radius of the 2000 Event Space, showing off all that Kansas City has to offer in terms of beautiful old architecture. Much love to these two as they continue their lives together in Kansas City! I wish them a lifetime of happiness! <3

This Senior Portrait session was especially fun because I had met Louise a couple years ago when we did full family portraits for her family. It was fun seeing her all grown up as a Senior. Doesn't she look so radiant and full of life!? Louise picked out our location, which was a spot I had been wanting to use before in North Lawrence. We had a lot of fun running around snapping her Senior Portrait session against this beautiful natural backdrop. Enjoy these pics and send more Seniors my way. I would love to do more Senior Portraits in Lawrence, KS.

This was my first opportunity to photograph their family and it was such a pleasure. I first met Mandy many years ago at Van-Go, where she works full-time. We met at the annual LOLA Giant, a two-day boutique styled shopping experience. LOLA is a collective of female artists who make lots of beautiful handmade products. Each year I eagerly wait for LOLA Giant so I can stock up on presents for my friends and family (and let's face it, for me too. I do some serious shopping for myself each year!) Come join us Saturday, Dec 12 and Sunday Dec 13 at Van-Go for LOLA's 2015 event! In the meantime, enjoy these fall family portraits.

I met Roxie way back in the day. I was she and David's wedding photographer, and soon became their family photographer. It's a lot of fun to see kids grow up in front of my lens as I see them from year to year. It's such an honor to be a part of the storytelling of their family history in pictures. Enjoy these East Lawrence family portraits.
