Sarah and Eric and wedding party were fun to work with. I love how the construction zone surrounding the Danforth Chapel didn't dampen their spirits, rather it became a part of our backdrop. That's turning lemons into lemonade, and I'm surprised at just how awesome construction signs work as a wedding backdrop! Much love to these two as they continue on this bumpy journey we call life. They have the right attitude to manage it! <3

The Kurtz' family last took professional photographs when the children were still children. I enjoyed this opportunity to photograph the full Kurtz family, including all the grown-up children and their partners to help them update their walls with fresh images. We chose their family home as the backdrop, which really personalized the session and will be meaningful to all of them for years to come. It was such a honor to document the Kurtz family while they were all in town visiting.

I was super excited that one of my few weekends off this season aligned perfectly so I could catch some of the performances at the 3-day Lawrence Field Day Fest. My photos included photos of many all-girl bands including Chastity Belt, The Ovaries-eez, Sugar Britches, and Sister Rat, as well as two all-boy bands Arc Flash and People's Punk Band. This fest is such a wonderful time to celebrate local and regional music, we're so fortunate to live in a thriving music centered community! I am so happy to have opportunities to photograph bands so regularly and help document this underground music scene.

The Arterra Event Gallery is such an elegant spot for a small wedding or party. I love how the architecture is featured when doing event photography there. Enjoy some pics from Arterra's celebration of its 2nd birthday!

When my editor at lawrence.com asked me to shoot the free George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic I could not say no. This show was more fun than I ever expected, with openers Phantastics (Kansas City) bringing so much fun energy to the stage to prep audiences for the legend himself. When George Clinton appeared on stage with full band and stage entourage I was not prepared for all of the amazing music that would be provided, from old funk staples to new modern twists with a hip hop edge. Lawrencians enjoyed the free concert as part of the 2nd annual Free State Festival activities. The 900 block of New Hampshire was transformed into an outdoor concert venue with audience filling the streets and lining the nearby parking garage to get a good view of the show. What a fun night! Thanks to the Free State Festival for bringing such a great group to town.
